「MINERVA（ミネルヴァ）」は、詩・知恵・芸術を司るローマ神話の女神ミネルヴァの名を冠したアートプロジェクトであり、日本美術の多様な魅力を世界へ発信することを目的として、美術展覧会の開催や書籍の刊行などを通じた活動を展開しています。

本プロジェクトは2025年に発足20年を迎えるとともに、文化交流を重ねてきた重要なパートナーであるRoyal Society of British Artists（RBA）との提携10周年という節目を迎えました。

会場となるロンドンのMall Galleriesは、RBAの拠点として知られる歴史あるギャラリーであり、エリザベス2世の声明により開館した由緒ある空間です。本プロジェクトはこの会場において10年にわたり継続的に展覧会を開催し、日本美術を紹介する重要な機会として現地でも高い評価を得ています。

2026年の本展では、選出された約280名の日本人作家が、日本画・洋画・彫刻・立体作品・工芸・書・写真・NFTアートなど、多様な現代表現を発表します。

王室文化と現代芸術が共存する都市ロンドンにおいて、日本と英国のアーティストによる創造的対話を通じ、新たな芸術の可能性を提示します。

なお、本ロンドン展の終了後、2026年10月には約4年ぶりとなる国内展が京都市京セラ美術館にて開催予定です。

MINERVA is an art project named after the Roman goddess of poetry, wisdom, and the arts. It has been dedicated to introducing the richness and diversity of Japanese art to the world through exhibitions and publications.

In 2025, the project marked its 20th anniversary, alongside the 10th anniversary of its collaboration with the Royal Society of British Artists (RBA), a longstanding partner in cultural exchange.

The exhibition takes place at Mall Galleries in London, the home of the RBA. This historic venue was established following a declaration by Elizabeth II and has served as a significant platform for artistic presentation. Over the past decade, MINERVA has consistently held exhibitions at this venue, establishing itself as a highly regarded showcase of Japanese art in London.

The 2026 edition will feature approximately 280 selected Japanese artists, presenting a wide range of contemporary practices including Japanese-style painting, Western-style painting, sculpture, three-dimensional works, crafts, calligraphy, photography, and NFT art.

Through this exhibition, a dialogue between Japanese and British artists unfolds in London—a city where royal tradition and contemporary culture coexist—offering new perspectives and possibilities in contemporary art.

Following the London exhibition, a domestic exhibition is scheduled to be held in October 2026 at Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art, marking the first presentation in Japan in approximately four years.
